A Book That Genuinely Surprised Me

I got this one in 2025, and honestly I was not sure what to expect.
I am not a huge Pokemon fan at heart, but the illustrations caught my eye immediately.
The backgrounds are genuinely stunning, the Pokemon designs are adorable, and the care put into this book is obvious from the first flip-through.
This is not just a Pokemon coloring book: it is a really crafted one, and that changes everything.

Number of pages: 112 (solutions included).

My Favorite Pages

What really stood out to me was the Pokemon selection and the way the backgrounds are handled.
My personal favorites: Umbreon, Leafeon, and the Pikachu page with blue lightning in the background. That one looks absolutely beautiful once colored.
The backgrounds are never an afterthought: every page has a real setting, a real atmosphere, and the finished result is stunning.
Even if you are not a Pokemon fan to begin with, the illustrations speak for themselves.

The Per-Page Color Swatch

Every coloring page comes with its own color swatch. It is a great idea and a genuinely pleasant surprise.
One thing to keep in mind though: the swatch is printed on the front side of the previous coloring page. If you use alcohol markers, the ink would bleed through and damage it.
With acrylic markers or colored pencils, it works perfectly and is really convenient for planning your palette before you start.

My Favorite Combination

On this book, I moved away from alcohol markers alone and tried something different: acrylic markers for the flat fills, then a light touch of colored pencils on top for shading.
The result is really beautiful: the markers keep the colors vivid and clean, while the pencils add depth and softness that markers alone cannot give.
I am not entirely sure why this book made me want to try that combination, but I am very glad I did.

Coloring Page Examples

The illustrations are highly detailed, with rich background scenery that brings each scene to life. The difficulty level is honest: accessible to an intermediate colorist, yet dense enough to keep an enthusiast fully engaged.

Solution Pages

The solution pages are grouped at the back of the book. They let you check your work and see the color result the authors had in mind, often a pleasant surprise once you have finished coloring.

Progress Tracker

At the back of the book, a tracker lets you tick off completed colorings and follow your progress at a glance. A small but very welcome touch for keeping track across all 50 pages.

My Verdict

No disappointments in this book, genuinely none.
The colors are well chosen, the backgrounds are magnificent, the per-page swatch is a very good surprise, and the paper quality does justice to the illustrations.
Whether you are a Pokemon fan or just curious, the drawings are beautiful enough to make you want to color. And if you try the acrylic markers plus colored pencils on top combination, you will not be disappointed with the result.
