Cozy Japan by Jade Summer: Full Review
🛟️ Curious about this book?
I’ve reviewed it below, but if you already want to see it on Amazon:
If you're a fan of Japan and looking for a relaxing coloring book with super cute illustrations, Cozy Japan by Jade Summer is made for you. I bought it in March 2025 and as soon as I had it in my hands, I knew it was a great choice. The cover is incredibly soft to the touch - it has nothing to do with the coloring itself but it immediately makes you want to open it!

Why this book caught my eye
I'm a huge fan of Japan and I love using alcohol markers, so when I saw Cozy Japan on Amazon, I didn't hesitate for long. The theme is beautifully done: cherry blossoms, tea ceremonies, geishas, peaceful gardens, cute kawaii characters... Each page takes you to a little corner of Japan and it's exactly what I was looking for to unwind.
This is not a mystery coloring book - here you choose your own colors. And honestly, it's really nice to let your creativity flow without following numbers. You can make a classic pink cherry tree or go wild with purple, nobody's judging!
The highlights
The printing is single-sided, which means you can use alcohol markers without worrying about bleed-through onto another design. This is a real plus because many coloring books cut corners on this and you end up with a ruined drawing on the back.
The illustrations are cute, nicely detailed but not overly complex. The lines are thick and well-defined, making coloring easy and accessible for both adults and teens. It's the kind of book that works for all skill levels.
The square format (21.59 cm) is compact and practical. You can easily slip it into a bag and take it anywhere. Perfect for coloring while traveling, on the train, or at a cafe.
What supplies to use?
The best tools for this kind of coloring book are alcohol markers - the colors are vibrant, the finish is smooth, and the single-sided paper handles them perfectly. Regular ink markers and colored pencils also work very well.
However, I haven't tested acrylic markers on this book. I think they might cover the outlines and ruin the design a bit, unless you trace over the outlines afterwards. If you want to play it safe, stick with alcohol markers or colored pencils.
Who is this book for?
Cozy Japan is perfect for anyone who loves Japan, cute illustrations, and relaxation. It's a great gift for someone who's into Japanese culture, or simply for anyone who wants to sit down and color without any pressure.
It's also an excellent choice for teens who want to try adult coloring books without being intimidated by overly complex designs. The illustrations are accessible while being detailed enough for a beautiful result.
My verdict
Cozy Japan is a charming, well-made coloring book that's perfect for relaxation. The Japan-themed illustrations are adorable, the single-sided printing is a real plus for alcohol markers, and the compact format makes it easy to take anywhere. If you're looking for a coloring book that takes you on a trip to Japan for a few pages, go for it!
